Senior Airman Ryan Watson, 423rd Security Forces Squadron, was named the 501st Combat Support Wing Everyday Hero from the 423rd Air Base Group.
As a patrolman, Watson secures two installations while protecting more than 4,200 personnel and the 501st CSW headquarters, U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command intelligence directorates, and the NATO Intelligence Fusion Center. He was one of the first certified combatives instructors at RAF Alconbury, where he trained 22 Airmen in hand-to-hand combat and weapons retention techniques. Watson was also selected as the 423rd SFS Fitness Improvement Program coordinator, volunteering his time to train individuals with failing or low-passing scores on the fitness assessment. He also led a briefing on active shooter response and awareness to 92 Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines at the EUCOM Joint Analysis Center.
